Men in the Movement

Men in the Movement is a new opportunity for CSU men who want to learn more about masculinity, its relationship to violence, and how all men can work to prevent gender violence.  The group meets every week to explore these issues and find ways to relate the work to their lived experiences.

Several times throughout the semester there are several open sessions which anyone is welcome to attend. Check out the “Upcoming Events” page on the Men in the Movement blog.

If you are interested in joining Men in the Movement, you can contact the Program Coordinator for Men’s Programming and Violence Prevention at Carl.Olsen@colostate.edu.  Participants can join at the beginning of the semester and no previous experience or knowledge is required.

Men in the Movement (MitM) is supported by the Women and Gender Advocacy Center whose staff serve as advisors and support for this program. MitM meets weekly to discuss topics which are related to gender socialization, masculinities, healthy relationships, and social justice. Every three weeks there will be an open session that students can attend regardless of gender or prior involvement in the program.

As the primary coordinator and facilitator of the program, my goal is to challenge participants to examine their role as male-identified leaders at Colorado State University, and then positively influence their peers by challenging other men to examine their own socialization.
