When I knew I was a feminist: Probably in 6th grade, when girls couldn’t wear pants to school (in Wisconsin! Crazy cold!) and some friends and I wore them anyway and got the rule changed. Returning to college later in life and stumbling into the Women’s Studies Program has given me the words to verbalize my intuitive feelings that how I have been treated because I was a woman was just wrong.
