Students who wish to pursue certification in the Women's Interdisciplinary Studies Program at the undergraduate level must declare their intent at the Office of Women's Programs and Studies. Completion of requirements in the Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Program will be noted on the student's permanent record, and the student will also receive a certificate.
All Colorado State students are invited to enroll in Women's Studies courses, whether or not they choose to participate in the Certificate Programs.
Students not formally admitted may register at the Admissions Office through Guest Registration.
The Women's Interdisciplinary Studies Certificate requires a minimum of 21 credits:
- WS 200: Introduction to Women's Studies - 3 Credits
- WS 472: Women's Studies Seminar - 3 Credits
- Intersectionality Course - minimum of 3 credits
- Additional Women's Studies Core Courses (see below) -minimum of 6 credits
- Additional Women's Studies Supporting Courses (see below) - maximum of 6 credits
Note: Students must earn a 'C' or better in each of the course to earn the Women's Interdisciplinary Studies Certificate.
Required Courses: WS 200, Introduction to Women Studies and WS 472, Seminar
Intersectionality of Race, Sexuality and Gender: Students must take at least one of the following: ETST 254, ETST/SOWK 352, ETST 405, ANTH 338
Remaining Core Courses:Students may select the remaining six credit hours of Women's Studies Core courses from the following classes: ANTH 338, E 330, E 332, ECON 211, ETST 254, ETST/SOWK 352, ETST 405, HIST 320, HIST 358, HIST 359, IE 470, PHIL 251, PSY 327, PSY 437, SPCM 335, WS 397, WS 495V
Supporting Courses: Supporting courses must be approved by the Women's Studies Board. A list of pre-approved courses is available on the Women's Programs and Studies website or through the Office.
Prerequisites: Students entering the Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Program must observe course prerequisites.
